# Renounce Ownership

Renouncing makes sure that you, as the "admin" of the token, will never be able to make changes to the contract again. All configurations like taxes and maximum percentages at that point stay like that forever. This can be used to increase trust in the community.

To renounce the ownership, simply click on the `Renounce 🔒` button under `Menu > My Tokens > [Name]` and follow the instructions. You will be prompted twice to confirm your actions.

Note that all tokens left in the contract will be burned when renouncing, since it wouldn't be possible to sell or airdrop them anyway. If you still need some of your own supply after renouncing, make sure to [airdrop them to yourself ](/docs/token-management-and-update/airdrop-tokens.md)BEFORE.
